How does it work?

Hoebeek has developed an incomparable process Wave Guard® in cooperation with MEAC, a company specialised in the building of microwave technology devices and with the support of IWT, aiming to keep out any kind of insects from oak wood.

The oak is sterilised in a sustainable and ecologically sound way via rapid volumetric microwave heating, thus obtaining the actual wood sterilisation standard ISPM 15 (min. 30 minutes at 56°C).
The microwave energy in the Wave Guard® process has proved to kill insects in less than 4 minutes (in cooperation with ‘la Faculté Universitaire des Sciences agronomiques de Gembloux’)

By treating every inch of oak with microwaves, Wave Guard® leaves Lyctus (wood beetle) no chances of surviving.
